#SNAP ON MODIS TEST 53 MODE 07 FULL#
When the same symptom recurred at about 75K miles another tranny fluid change fixed it-this time I paid extra for the dealer to do a full flush. I was dubious, but that did solve the problem. The car was new enough that I thought it was worth taking to the dealer and they recommended a transmission fluid change. One of the dash lights was on, probably Service Engine Soon clearing the codes with a friend's OBDII reader restored smooth shifts for a while, but the light came on again within 50-100 miles (along with hard shifts). I believe this is done to limit wear of the clutches in the planetary gear set-hard shifts mean that the clutches engage with minimal slippage.

Within the first year the auto trans started to shift abruptly. I bought my 2001 LW300 off lease, 3 years old, 35K miles. The only occasion when my transmission was fully flushed of old fluid was at 50K miles and done at a Saturn dealership. In general, you're less likely to harm the transmission with a fluid change than you are by leaving it alone. Meanwhile others have had their transmission fail when doing the same thing. Frankly, I find it a risky proposition although some members have been successful in following that recommendation. I know that the factory stated that there were conditions where no changing of fluid was required. Personally, I'm not a fan of the idea that a transmission should never be serviced. Since then it's been by dropping the pan only with a filter change and the transmission has been fine. That's been the only time the transmission has had all of the fluid changed. It was following that service that I had some trouble with the Pressure Control Solenoid intermittently malfunctioning. Any suggestions about servicing tranny? i know it is supposed to be a non service tranny is power flushing the only option to clean and fill?
